We all cut the ribbon

We all came in fancy dress as animals, to go on the Exwick Ark, and cut the ribbon together under Harri's watchful eye.

Below is an article written for the local "FHARA" news sheet which goes to 1100 local homes.

Launch of The Exwick Ark Pre-school.

The new Exwick Ark Pre-school for 2-5 year olds has been up and running since April 18th 2005. Having opened the doors with four children on the register there are now twelve. Harri Sharp and Paula Stone, the managers and local mums, each with three children, are thrilled at the successful start to The Exwick Ark. "We want to provide an excellent start for the children where they have the opportunity to experience life to the full every moment they are with us. We are so confident that what we have here is great that we have already embarked on the rigorous process of Quality Assurance for our setting." says Harri.

Having recently consulted local parents and carers about their child care needs and wishes The Exwick Ark Pre-school will be expanding their hours from September to include lunch clubs and then from January 2006 other sessions will be provided to enable Parents and carers to access Full Day care at The Exwick Ark. There are also plans to provide childcare in the school holidays. Early Years Education funding is available for all children from the term after they are three years old.

The children take part in routine activities each session like snack time and story time and there are different fun activities each day. The theme this term is Water and activities have involved planting out seedlings into planters and watering them each day to help them grow ( to link in with the story Jasper's Beanstalk) and washing toys' clothes and pegging them out to dry (to link in with the story Mrs Mopple's Washing Line).

The Pre-school had an Official Opening Ceremony on Thursday 23rd June to which came parents and children, representatives from the local community including Tor Hodgson and PC Simon Alliss, a School Governor, Janine Bradford who runs a Monday afternoon Toddler Group in the Pre-school room, and the Deputy Head of Exwick Middle School . Apart from balloon modelling and food there was a celebration cake. All the children were invited to dress up as an animal from Noah's Ark and the best outfit prize was awarded to a pretty little butterfly!
